Ford, MacMaster, NCERC join hybrid powertrain research initiative

The hybrid/electric powered car become popular since Honda launched its first design of the hybrid/electric car. Ford, MacMaster and NCERC also wanted to join in the race by raising an new initiative fund of $2.5 mil in the research of a new powertrain system for hybrid automobile in McMaster Innovative Park.
The fund will be shared among three parties from 2011 to 2016 in the industrial research of the hybrid/electric system. There are 3 main focus from this research, namely the performance and stability of the system, fault detection system and vehicle monitoring system.
A five year term contract will be given to hire 2 post doctoral graduates, 9 graduates and 1 part time technician to form this research group. Saeid Habibi, the appointed head of Hybrid/Electric Vehicle (HEV) Powertrain Diagnostics Industrial Research Center.
